Fagor Healthcare presented Medical Dispenser in Pharmagora 2013 which took place from 6 to 8 April in Paris. The machine aroused great interest among the attendees who visited us at the B35 Stand of our partner CPM Technologie.
About the show, we would like to highlight an interesting interview made to the French Health Minister, Marisol Touraine during the opening of the fair. Touraine, responded very clearly to the audience and mentioned that the great challenge in the French pharmacy sector was to change the retributive system based on medicine incomes to a system based in services. Something totally aligned with the general trend of reducing pharmaceutical costs in Europe and particularly accelerated in Spain.
Regarding to the fair, both the installations and the organization were very neat. As an example we were surprised with an information channel with open information and recorded interviews on TV where you could follow the different sessions in a very flexible and dynamic format. If you could not attend to the fair and French is not a problem for you, it is available at a click for your comfort.
In general, the number of exhibitors was lower than we expected, especially regarding to the great laboratories of the pharmaceutical sector. But it was a surprise the large number and variety of custom dispensing medications (MDS) available, both manual and automated, which confirms that the trend of services is a reality, and that the MDS are the first candidate.
For us, the show has had the dual purpose of analyzing the MDS in the french market and to present Medical Dispenser to the pharmacy sector in order to seek their views. In both cases the conclusions were very positive. In first place, as we have seen before, the MDS is a strong candidate to be a service in French pharmacies. Secondly, we have checked the great interest of various pharmaceuticals and other industry players who visited us during the three days of the fair.
Therefore, our assessment of Pharmagora 2013 is very positive, and confirms the work we have done to internationalize Medical Dispenser to France in a short term adapting it to the needs of pharmacies in the neighboring country.
We take this opportunity to announce that Medical Dispenser is going to be presented in Cosmofarma 2013 from 17th to 19th of April.

Fagor Healthcare attended the European Meeting of Pharmacy – INFARMA 2013 which this year took place in Barcelona from the 5th to 7th of March. Fagor Healthcare aroused great interest among the attendees who visited us in order to get to know Medical Dispenser and discover the rest of novelties presented at our stand.
Medical Dispenser, the new personalized service for dispensing medicines, was the star once again. Many pharmacists told us it was a perfect product for their pharmacies, allowing them to offer a new service (those who do not offer it yet) because is very safe, fast and has a unified management software (those who already offer the MDS service).
Besides showing the congress participants the functioning of Medical Dispenser, there were two new developments that were shown at the fair. First, we presented the dispensing trolley for social and health centers and the cabinets to store the MDS, both prepared for 60 patients. Both products can be produced in other sizes upon request.
Our manual preparation blister and management software has been the second novelty. This option is ideal for pharmacists with few patients, as they can start offering MDS manually with our software and blisters. Whenever they think that their patient volume justifies the use of Medical Dispenser, just have to connect the loading machine. The software is exactly the same, so you already have all registered patients, their reports, etc.
Attending to Infarma 2013 has very positive to us. The interest in our products and our company is very high and we are feeling, via the congratulations of pharmacists, that the industry increasingly relies on us and on our products. We take great pride and encouraging us to continue working in this line.

Last 26 and 27 of April, The Clinical Pharmacy Congress was held in the ExCel London convention centre, where Fagor Healthcare attended in order to learn more about the world of clinical pharmacy and its new challenges in the UK.
At this meeting, designed by the same organizers as The Pharmacy Show, it is estimated that a total of 1,760 clinical pharmacists and technicians were gathered. The conference aimed to provide a platform to raise awareness of the changes that are affecting the health area regarding to pharmaceutical practices and services. There were various conferences concerning issues about the profession, and topics as diverse as the treatment of diseases, new ways of using drugs or optimizing the use of them were approached. In conclusion, this is an event arranged for pharmacists so as the can renew and learn new trends which may help to their profession in the best possible way.
Besides the large number of sessions available, in the commercial area around 100 exhibitors were congregated. There, we could find associations such as the Association of Pharmacy Technicians, The British Oncology Pharmacy Association and the Pharmacists’ Defence Association (PDA) with the aim of informing the pharmacists about the new developments that are happening in the sector. On the other hand, we could also see pharmaceutical companies of the size of Pfizer and Glaxosmithkline presenting their products.
Also, thanks to its presence in the conference, we learned about the services offered by companies like Co-operative Pharmacy or BUPA carehomes where they talked about their concern regarding the continuity of the patient treatment once he/she has left the hospital. We can say that the number of pharmacy equipment manufacturers was scarce. We could mainly find medicines packaging systems in individual sachets and softwares to manage stocks.

Fagor Healthcare presented Medical Dispenser in Cosmofarma 2013 from 19 to 21 April in Bologna (Italy), which aroused great interest among the attendees who visited us on Stand C79 of our partner PM FARMA di PIPPO MICHELE.
Cosmofarma is the most important exhibition in Italy for pharmacy-related services and products. The fair was held within Pharmexpo during the week of innovation in the world of pharmacy, and which also co-starred with Pharmintech 2013 specialized in pharmacy and beauty products which took place from 17 to 19 April.
It is the first time we take part in the fair, and the first impression we had was the high number of exhibitors, and the big display made by all of them in each of the stands. We would also like to highlight the excellent organization of the fair, which was backed up with a large influx of visitors during the three days. Among the most prominent services we can find devices designed to provide health services and also the always present automated storage systems.
The great debate underlying in the sector at a European level and also in Italy, is how to change from a medicine based paid system to a service-based pay system. However controversial aspects such as the liberalization of the pharmacies were treated. This subject is, highly topical, especially in Spain.
For us, the show has had the dual purpose of analyzing the MDS market in Italy and to present Medical Dispenser in to the pharmacy sector to seek point of views. First, we found out with surprise that there was no Monitorated Dosage Systems (MDS), not manual or automated. This indicates that the service is not known and that it is even limited by law. Secondly, we have discovered the interest of pharmacists in our system, although there was some reluctance about the current limitations in the legislation.
Therefore, our assessment of Cosmofarma 2013 is positive for the welcome made by pharmacists, but we have to deepen in the current legislation to clear the doubts raised by the pharmaceutical stakeholders.

Fagor Healthcare presentó Medical Dispenser en Cosmofarma 2013 del 19 al 21 de Abril en Bolonia (ITALIA), donde despertó gran interés entre los asistentes que nos visitaron, en el Stand C79 de nuestro colaborador PM FARMA di PIPPO MICHELE.
Cosmofarma es la feria más importante en Italia de los servicios relacionados con la farmacia. Se celebró dentro de PharmExpo la semana de la innovación en el mundo de la farmacia, y en la que compartió protagonismo también con la feria Pharmintech 2013 especializada en los productos de farmacia y de belleza que tuvo lugar del 17 al 19 de Abril.
Es nuestra primera participación en la feria, y la primera impresión que nos llevamos es el elevado número de expositores, y el gran despliegue realizado por todos ellos en cada uno de los stands. También reseñar la excelente organización de la feria, que se vió refrendada por la gran afluencia de visitantes durante los tres días. Entre los productos más destacados se encuentran dispositivos orientados a prestar servicios de salud, así como los siempre presentes sistemas de almacenamiento automático.
El gran debate subyacente del sector a nivel europeo, y como no podía ser de otra manera también en Italia pasa por cambiar de un sistema retributivo basado en el medicamento, a un sistema retributivo basado en servicios. Además se trataron aspectos también polémicos como la liberalización de las farmacias, de plena actualidad especialmente en España.
Para nosotros, la feria ha tenido el doble objetivo de analizar el mercado del SPD en Italia y de presentar Medical Dispenser al sector farmacia para recabar sus opiniones. En primer lugar hemos comprobado con sorpresa que no había ningún dispensador personalizado de medicamentos (SPD), ni manuales, ni automatizados, lo que indica que no es un servicio conocido y que incluso está limitado por la legislación. Y en segundo lugar, hemos descubierto el interés de los farmacéuticos por nuestro sistema, aunque con las reticencias por las limitaciones actuales en la legislación.
Por todo ello, nuestra valoración de Cosmofarma 2013 es positiva por la acogida de las farmacias, aunque nos queda profundizar en la legislación actual para despejar las dudas planteadas por los farmaceúticos interesados.
